Murat Akan

International Business Development and Marketing Consultant

Akan was born in 1982 in Elazığ. After his education at Ege University the School of Economics he got his master degree at the University of Sussex. Between 1985-1987, he did sectoral research about EU at Economic Development Foundation with the title "Research Specialist". At the same time, he completed College of Europe's courses towards EU Politics. He returned to Turkey in 1987 and until 1990 he worked firstly as "Project Coordinator" at Bileşim-AGB Marketing Resarch Services than he was promoted as General Manager.

He coordinated and conducted various research projects for biggest multinational companies as P&G, Philip Morris, Coca-Cola, Sony, Mc Donald's, Fiat, Nivea, Pizza Hut and biggest local companies as Arçelik, Ezcacıbaşı and Yaşar Holding. After his successful works, he was transferred to "Cenajans - Grey Advertising and Communication Group as Group Coordinator, Member of Executive Committee.

He started as Deputy General Coordinator in January 1990 and was promoted to General Coordinator and COO in March 1995. A full-service communication and advertising group. Has 25 companies on communication, education and service sectors in Turkey and CIS countries.The total group employed some 1100 employees.Responsible for the group management, HR, IT, international relations, new business & business development and the new investments.

He left his position at Cenajans-Grey in 2015 to work at World Eye Hospital as COO. World Eye Hospital is largest ophthalmology hospital network in the world as the number of examinations and operations (4 hospitals, 4 polyclinics in Turkey, Germany & Holland). The total group employed some 900 employees. He as responsible for managing and coordinating all non-medical management, both local & international communication / marketing & sales, pricing, contractual institutions, accreditation & quality programs, HR, IT and the new business in the group.

He continued his job at World Eye Hospital until 2007 and joined AIM Consultancy to give consultation about business development and marketing on Iran, Romania, Gulf countries and CIS countries.

He's married and he's a very good horse-rider. Due to his job requirements, he lives abroad most of the time. He speaks English and likes to do scuba diving and play golf during his free time.
